Our Community Need

Every two years, Affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure complete an assessment process known as the Community Profile. The purpose of the Community Profile is to ensure that the work of the Affiliate is collaborative, targeted and nonduplicative. It is intended to establish focused education and grantmaking activities that align with a seamless continuum of breast health and cancer care services, inform public policy efforts, drive inclusion efforts in the community, and establish directions for community outreach and partnership.

As a result of these Community Profile findings, the Southeastern Colorado Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has detailed three priorities.  First, we would like to increase inclusion and cultural competency to ensure every individual has sustained access to the continuum of care from screening to post-treatment.  Next, we are encouraging patient navigation to efficiently guide women throughout the continuum of care.  Finally, we aim to expand the Affiliate’s service areas to better serve individuals throughout Southeastern Colorado.
